My first experience with making wine for the stage. I used red juice with a hint of blue for the red wine feeling.

This show was produced by The Duluth Playhouse Underground Theater in the fall of 2017. This was my first opportunity to work on a show outside of a school production so I was nervous but excited for the new opportunity.

This frame was made out of scrap pieces I found in the scene shop. It had to be big enough for someone to fit their head in the middle between the two large boxes that were supposed to hold hypothetical rats.
Tops to the boxes, chain link fence pieces, handles and a chain were added to finish off the structure. My favorite details to add were the scratch marks on the side where past prisoners could have scratched at in pain.

Interesting Challenges

This show was performed in a theatre with close proximity to the audience with most of the props being sourced from the properties storage. Some challenges included using cups that had to be weighted and quite, my first experience with coloring water to make red wine, and fully constructing a rat box used for torture in one of the final scenes of the play.
