The Women Of Lockerbie

Photos by Jeanette D. Farr
This show was produced by Glendale Community College in the Spring of 2025. This play recounts the events of the Panem 103 plane crash over Lockerbie, Scotland and the "Washing Women" who channel their grief through washing and returning the clothes of the victims to their families. This play by Deborah Brevoort shows the different ways communities process grief in the style of a greek tragedy.

Interesting Challenges
The world of this play is very grounded and while performed in a large auditorium needed to feel realistic to the actors and audience. I had to source high powered flashlights and easy to use electric candles. The most challenging process was making the final hip bag for one of the actors in which I used faux leather and pattern mockups in order to make a bag that would adequately hold a heavy flashlight and other props.
